Growing up, I watched two films on loop: "The Wizard" was one of them...

Fred Savage, the original Nintendo, Mario Bros 3, and giant dinosaurs… what’s not to like?

*𝗦𝗽𝗼𝗶𝗹𝗲𝗿 𝗔𝗹𝗲𝗿𝘁* (although I’m not sure the etiquette requires it for a film from the ’80s)

The film ends at one of those random roadside stop-offs you get in America.

The enormous Dinosaurs of Cabazon in California.

And as a kid, it was the place I wanted to go to most in the world.

California was off the cards as a kid.

Skegness was our short haul trip.

Cornwall was long haul.

Fast forward to our honeymoon, my wife realised that with a slight detour, we could visit.

And so we did.

To anyone else, it’s a strange sighting of giant dinosaurs on the side of the freeway.

But to me it was a silly, but important, thing on my bucket list.

I believe you want things more as a kid — as in really, really want that cool thing or experience.

And by virtue of time, you never really have the means as a kid to get or do it.

So as an adult.

If you can.

It’s nice to treat that 9-year-old version of you.

To that very thing.

You wanted most of all.
